Setting Up Your First RewardingPosts Offer

Setting up your first Rewarding Posts offer is easy.

First, upload the file you want to reward your readers with if they link to you. To do this, click to the Manage –> RewardingPosts tab in your Wordpress Admin area:

Add a promotion name for your upload (this is to distinguish the download and failure pages of different promotions you might wish to run), and select the file you’re offering in exchange for a link:

Once the file is uploaded, it will appear in the list below the form. You will also have a chance to edit the Download and Failure pages that users will see when they successfully download the file, or if the link check fails. You can add offers and newsletter sign-ups, or whatever other promotional tidbits you’d like to these pages whenever you want.

Once you’ve uploaded your files and customized your landing pages, you want to write your post or page to let your readers know about the download.

Start writing your post or page. Let people know where and how to link, or what you want them to post. (**A current bug requires that people link with a trailing slash after your domain name: i.e. http://rewardingposts.com/ rather than http://rewardingposts.com **)

You’ll notice, in Visual Editor mode, that there is a small icon that looks a little like file drawers at the end of the editor menu. This is the RewardingPosts file browser.

Click on the icon and a pop-up box will appear with your uploaded files.

Click on the file you want to promote, and a tag will automatically appear in your blog post.

When you publish the post, this will create the following form (or something slightly different if you edited the form in the Options menu).

All that’s left to do is to test  the offer to ensure that the download and the form works.

Then it’s time to promote your offer!
